It is getting more common to read news about intelligent car or autonomous car. A previous step is a car with an ADAS system (Advanced Driver Assistance System).
But, what is really an ADAS? It is a wide concept with many development areas. As we do not pretend to extend our explanations too much, we will simplify it, following its acronym. Every system including algorithms which help the driving to be more secure.
In this first post about ADAS, we will comment a pair of the most extended features
– Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS): system looking for safety while driving, warning the driver if the car leaves the lane (it might be temporarily deactivated with the direction indicators).
– Traffic Signal Recognition: a development which identifies the traffic signals scanned by a camera.
We will keep talking about ADAS systems in next posts, and also about their features. We want also to remark that an ADAS system does not make a car an autonomous car, it just helps the driver.
