The Spanish R&D&I company Xesol Innovation has signed a contract with an electric vehicle manufacturer to install its Xesol Drive technology, which consists of an ADAS (Advanced Driving Assistance System) with several functionalities.
The electric vehicle market in Spain (0.41 %) is not as wide as in other countries, such as Norway (24 %), Sweden (2.8 %), Iceland (2.3 %), The Netherlands (1.8 %), China (1.37 %) or the United States (0.91 %), which are not very exploited in relation with ADAS.
However, the forecasts point a quite significant growth in the next decades in our country, since the 64 % of people think that the electric car is the ideal solution for cities. In addition, from 2019, Volvo (with annual sales over 450,000 units) will launch all its models as electric or hybrid vehicles, and Nissan (with sales over 5 million units in 2015) expects that the 20% of its sales are electric cars by 2020. Accenture also says that over 36 million electric cars will be sold by 2025, what means a 3% or 4% of the car fleet.
The proposal of Xesol Innovation is disruptive, since it joins care for the environment with the increase of road safety thanks to its Xesol Drive technology, characterised by the use of artificial intelligence algorithms: machine learning and deep learning, which allow to provide an endless number of features such as:
- Detection and tracking of pedestrians, cyclists, cars, buses, trucks, special vehicles, etc.
- Lane departure warning
- Road type detection
- Forward and rear collision warning
- Traffic signs recognition
- Curve type detection
- Traffic lights recognition
This alliance is expected to be only the beginning of a long career in the technological boost for sustainable Mobility.
